Product: 0072129409 This book is chuck full of learning and reference material. Each chapter is independent. I like that you can select a chapter and understand it without needing to have read any others. This is a good book choice to learn Linux Administration. The subject matter goes deep enough in most topics that it is worthy of reference shelf space. Rating: 5 0072129409 Count: 5

Product: Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything Ok - so I am admittedly late to the party. This book came out in 2006. While I’ve obviously heard of Wikipedia and Linux, I was thinking there was more to know about how this whole wiki stuff works, so I thought I’d do a ‘deep dive’ by buying this book. Bad idea. Instead of finding detailed findings on what motivates people to volunteer their efforts and what models have proven most workable, I got lots of buzz words and abundant proclamations that boil down to THIS IS THE NEXT BIG THING PEOPLE - ADOPT IT OR BE DOOMED!

Product: 0321636783 This is a good introduction to using Linux, and I actually used this as a textbook in an Intro to Linux class. There are no exercises in the book, so the learning will come by following the in-text instructions. All the material is from the command terminal, so it works well with pretty much any distro of Linux. Good primer. Rating: 4 0321636783 Count: 6

Product: Linux Bible This is a good source to review and deepen your knowledge of Linux from the command terminal. While it’s geared for RHLE and Fedora, it works quite well with other distros with very little modification to the material. Well worth the read if you’ve already dealt with Linux at an introductory level and you want to sharpen your skills a bit. Rating: 4 0470230193 Count: 52

Product: 0380815931 After Stephenson’s behemoth Crytonomicon comes this slim but entertaining offering. The format is book but it feels more like a high-note guest speech given by a masterful speaker. It’s engaging, amusing, provides several laughs and some handy insights to remember long after the event. Stephenson is a smart, widely-read guy with a keen eye, an original turn of thought and a lively imagination. The subject is computer operating systems but it’s not a dreary geeks-only read.

Product: 1518684777 I didn’t know that Linux and Raspberry can go hand in hand. It is a good thing that I get to read this book. I am fond of reading books that are innovative and new. The topic of this book falls in this category. It contains basic information which is something that I find useful because yeah, I am new to this. I need to explore and see what I can do from the knowledge I got from reading this book.

Product: 0470082933 If your familiar with Debian or Ubuntu but don’t know the command line that well, this is the text for you. The author assumes you know basic operations in Ubuntu but that you would like to carry them out through the terminal. This was just what I needed, since all my computational work produces lots of data and I need to process it quickly. The book is well written and formatted.

Product: The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook By far, this is the most interesting book I’ve read about the Linux operating system. It contains fantastic coverage of a wide range of topics at varying levels of detail. The writing style is very appealing and the details are wonderfully selected and presented. The many chapters allow the user to explore each domain to varying levels of depth and breadth.
