Product: 1430219122 though I haven’t gone through the entire book i found what i was looking especially stuff on Open VPN and Rsync and other backup tools. This book is a must have for the new system administrators or for those whom Linux is not their forte and for others who need quick brushups and tips. Though not perfect the content is well defined. Its not as advanced as some of the other books out there but it certainly simplifies stuff.

Product: 1593270364 Karls book seems for me the perfect book for small clusters. He describes every single install and configuration aspect I could possible think of. The book is extremly readable and described each single step and its considerations easy understandable. It does read at times a bit theoretical like it was made by a teacher, ruther than a technichian, but perhaps that is why it is so comprehensible. For the details found inside it is very compact which makes it easy to carry it with you when you go onsite.

Product: 059600754X I found this to be a gentle introduction to the world of Linux. The author has done a decent job in presenting an overview of Linux (which is easier said than done, since there is such a tremendous amount that could be covered). There is a copy of Linux on an included CD that allows Linux to be run from the CD without writing any data to one’s hard drive.

Product: 059600589X I found this book to be very readable and a good way of getting up to speed on Linux. The book: (i) guides you how to load Fedora onto your computer, (ii) describes how Linux works, and (iii) discusses Linux applications, networking and scripts. The author also touches on the Red Hat Enterprise version of Linux throughout the text. The Linux installation section is well written with plenty of screen shots showing the various screens during installation.

Product: 0596007582 I found this to be a very well written book for someone with a Windows experience migrating to a Linux environment. System administrators coming from a Windows world would find this very useful. The author has done a good job briding the Windows-to-Linux gap and has covered a lot of material that will be relevant on a day-to-day basis. Rating: 4 0596007582 Count: 7

Product: 1849695105 Its a very nice, but brief book for those who are not used to the a Linux shell, but familiar with IT security techniques. I feel that the chapters on security are too brief, they don’t explain the techniques enough. However, the Bash introduction is very well explained and I can recommend it for everyone who want to try the shell out for the first time. Rating: 3 1849695105 Count: 9
