Product: 0131429647 This is an exceptionally fine book. Robbins has supplied the reader with a vast number of programs and a lot of elucidation. This is a primer in Linux programming, but also serves as a tract on UNIX programming. The illustrations stem, for the most part, from actual GNU and Linux code. This is an invaluable resource for those converting from another system to Linux. Rating: 5 0131429647 Count: 8

Product: 0596004613 This book is great and contains a lot of information on Linux. If you are interested in Linux, this book is for you. It is very intensive on how to use Linux. It has a very good section on networks. I wish the author has a more recent edition. Rating: 5 0596004613 Count: 8

Product: How Linux Works The books provides a readable, well structured and comprehensive introduction to Linux systems but it is not a book for developers and doesn’t reveal internal implementation details. It is more of an overview from a system administrator point of view. As noted in other reviews the content is very basic. There is no attempt (and no space) to provide detailed discussions of the arguments treated. With respect to other (older) books it has the advantage to cover recent additions to Linux.

Product: 1442376244 Originally airport reading - amazed me in the end. Once I came over an article on the Internet; I guess it was on Fortune speaking about the fortune 500 CEOs which book they value most. It was saying that about 30% of them named Good to Great and Innovators got some honorable mention getting about 15% of the votes. The thing that author, got admiration of Elon Musk for Franklin and Einstein biographies and after he was approached by Steve Jobs to write his biography he would have got access to practically anyone.

Product: 0596004613 This is a very helpful book, and contains a lot of useful material. It wouldn’t be the first linux book I’d recommend to someone, but it’s certainly worth having on your shelf. My biggest problem with this book was that the hacks are nearly all one-shot actions that you’ll perform when first setting up your environment. As long as that’s what you’re looking for, this is the book for you.

Product: 0071545883 Steve did a wonderful job with this book. He answers nearly all the important questions you have before finishing the book. It has a really good section on firewalls in Linux as well as compiling your own kernel. The section on DNS was really quite nice. I always had a difficult time understanding DNS in Linux until reading this book and have successfully set up DNS on a Linux Server.
