Product: Linux Bible By far the best book about Linux for a beginner and intermediate. Very clear transmission of thoughts and no dummy paragraphs detected. Worth every penny Rating: 5 0470230193 Count: 52

Product: 159327257X This book is simplistic and goes step by step. Please understand, it will try to give you a basic/intermediate understanding of Ubuntu and try to teach some things about Linux. It is not trying to teach you Linux itself. Just Ubuntu…a particular ‘flavor’ of Linux. I agree with a previous review that this book could have used more pictures, diagrams, visuals. Technical direction without pictures is cruel to the geekiest of people.

Product: 0596009119 This WAS a great book. But unless you are using a Linux distro that is 4 years old…this book is worthless to you. And if you are into Linux, you are NOT about having a 4 year old distro!!! lol OREILLY needs to update this. It is hard though because Linux distros can change or be completely overhauled within 6 months. Rating: 1 0596009119 Count: 9

Product: 0131478230 This book is like the course you wish you could take at college but they don’t offer because they are making you learn theoretical things like what a turing machine is, and other things you will likely never use. This is a great practicel, no-nonsense introduction to Linux for those who are at the command line and want to know what to do next. How do you navigate the file system?

Product: 0596003439 This is the latest edition of the book that taught me to be a Unix administrator. Her descriptions were understandable, and her procedures were well-explained. And throughout the book, Frisch explained the mindset that every professional system administrator needs to bring to the job. The book has expanded with each edition, and there is increased information about different Unix-like Operating System options. In particular, the coverage of Linux and AIX has increased in successive editions of the book.

Product: 0672336243 Simply put, this is a solid primer for someone who is unfamiliar with Ubuntu or other Debian based distros, and perhaps for someone who has never used Linux. It is well written, comfortably sized in terms of content, and is fairly well organized. Probably not a book for the Linux expert, but for the rest of us, it is a nice addition to the technical library. Rating: 5 0672336243 Count: 8

Product: LINUX Beginner’s Crash Cours I heard the word Linux to friends but I have no idea what it is. When I read this book, I found out that Linux is operating system. I did not know that there is another operating system other than Windows. According to this book, managing Linux is harder when compared to Windows, yet Linux is more flexible and has more configuration options. I am now curious about Linux.

Product: Ubuntu Made Easy Despite its usability, it can be a bit tricky to come to grips with Ubuntu (or any Linux distribution) if you don’t have the lay of the land. Regardless of the features added to the distribution for ease of use. So how can you get that lay of the land without a lot of time-consuming experimentation? That’s where Ubuntu Made Easy comes in. The book is easy-to-follow and the format actually teaches you something.
