Product: Ubuntu Made Easy This Ubuntu book is very easy to read and does clearly explain how the system works. Ubuntu 12.4, which is on the CD that comes with the book is their best long term supported release yet. Where the book does come up short is in the way it presents some things. It would be much better if it described a problem or process in the language

Product: 0066620732 I think I understand the mixed reaction to this book. Hardcore computer geeks and open source freaks may find it a bit too light, not serious enough, lacking an inspiring vision. On the other hand, those who know little about the nuts and bolts of computer hardware and software might get bogged down or bored. Torvalds depicts himself as a good programmer who worked really hard at writing code.

Product: 1894953479 Snyder is hilarious. Her use of characters and creatures from myths and legends, to re-depict IT situations by superimposing these beings from a supernatural realm onto real-life computer industry events, describes them in a new light, with tremendous insight and humour. The twelve articles collected here are fun for any Geek on your gift list. The wit and wisdom displayed in this book are exceptional, with everything from step by step instructions on how to install Linux on a dead badger, to using your dead badger to fight zombies.

Product: 1517392772 I am studying Linux lately and until now I am looking for more information that I can learn about Linux. I got different books about Linux and I am searching for more until I found this book. This book taught me what Linux is. I learned the reasons what I need to switch to Linux. I also learned different versions or distributions of Linux in detail so as to understand better the version that suits my style.

Product: Ubuntu Made Easy Being a long-time Linux user without only a minimum of technical knowledge of Unix operating systems in general, I find myself an evangelist without the answers of tough questions I often get from converts. I worked for years using Unix computers but never had the time or inclination to tweak and dig for details that many others do when they are bitten by the Linux/Unix bug. So being comfortable with a working Linux system is much different than knowing what to do when something is not working.

Product: 1119188687 If you’re going to be stranded on a desert island with nothing but a Raspberry Pi, some interfacing projects and a single book of your choosing, this is the book to choose! Introductory/Getting Started material on Linux, Raspbian, basic electronics, Pi hardware, implementation languages and interfacing. The latter is particularly important given the rather delicate nature of the RPi GPIO. Includes a performance comparison of the various languages which, alone, would justify the purchase price.

Product: 1849695105 Penetration Testing with the Bash shell I gave this book a 5 star rating because I felt it covered all of the basic concepts rather well, and it was easy to follow along. The crash course on using the console (Bash) system was very well paced and planned out. I administer various linux systems and found this book rather helpful for testing the different virtual machines, dedicated machines, and workstations around the home office.

Product: 1783982144 Kali Linux Network Scanning Cookbook Where to begin with this book, well we can start by just how amazing it is! Right off the start you setup a virtual environment and the instructions are pretty clear, I had no issues getting this going. The Windows XP system I didn’t even bother with as I wanted to focus on ISO images of systems I had on hand and that worked perfectly for me.
