Product: 047025128X This book is great to learn about Linux in general and to get started with scripting. There is a lot of information about other shells such as csh, zsh, korn and bash. You can read the chapter on bash scripting only and not the other if you would like. The book has a great flow and it is easy to follow along. Rating: 5 047025128X Count: 10

Product: 0132396556 This is the most comprehensive Linux Device Driver Book that I know of, but the editing is very sloppy and most of the examples do not compile. This would be unacceptable laziness, if the book were not so comprehensive. At this point some of the book refers to deprecated API’s as the Linux Kernel is evolving. It would be nice to see a second edition that fixed the compilation issues and updated certain APIs.

Product: The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook Plenty of people have written great reviews of this book, so I won’t repeat the same praises all over again. What I will say is how important this book is for me, a scientist, engineer, inventor type who writes lots of programs on Linux. I have 40 Linux books. If I had to give up this book or the other 39… I’d keep this book.

Product: 1590596749 Finally an in-depth and comprehensive Suse Linux guide. This is my 2nd purchase of a Suse Linux Guide. The first purchase was the most popular and totally useless after the install of 10.1 was completed. If you want a good install guide and an excellent reference for problem solving after you get Suse Linux up and running, this will do it. Rating: 5 1590596749 Count: 5

Product: 1449316697 This pocket guide isn’t worth the paper it is printed on. It is primarily for a Fedora/Red Hat distro and really doesn’t do a good job at describing the command uses. I have been teaching Linux for eight years and have been using Linux since the mid 90’s. I have switched to the Linux Phrasebook by Scott Granneman. It is a much better guidebook for administrators and people learning how to use Linux.

Product: 159327288X This is a great reference book, however it is a book and by the time it is printed, it is obsolete. The exploits in this book are not all going to work, however it is a great starting point for the references. The real value is understanding the framework and helping you develop your own exploits and tools to use within the Metasploit framework! I give it only four stars as I think it could have been a bit more comprehensive with stronger use case scenarios and examples.
