Product: 0124116442 The book is very readable compared to other technical books. The writer is clearly a teacher who understands how to keep a reader’s attention while providing useful, real world information. As of now, this book seems very up-to-date. It as published recently and has what I have read in other resources are commonly used tools in the industry. I read the whole book and took copious notes due to my upcoming certification tests and interest in hacking.

Product: 1494295504 This book is a reference manual with common commands and charts frequently used by penetration testers. Even though I am a novice security professional, my training during Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) training helps me understand a fair portion of the sections and commands within those sections. The book’s font is small so there is a lot of information it although it is physically small. Of the sections and commands which are new to me, there is invaluable information which I will be exploring during my continuation of security training, including (OSCP).

Product: Linux for Beginner’s: Complete Guide for Linux Operating System and Command Line Wow! This book is quite enlightening to me. Well, I have zero idea what Linux is and this book just showed me how. It is a great introduction to Linux for beginners like me. This book guides readers in terms of introducing them to Linux as well as giving them a step-by-step assistance in installing and using it along with other software applications.

Product: 0072129409 This is a huge book (1200) pages yet is well organised and truly a ‘reference’ work. It is clearly written and I have used it over and over to increase my use/knowledge of Linux. The sections on SAMBA and APACHE enabled me to get these up, running and customised in no time and the introductory chapter on TCL/TK programming soon had me producing natty little GUIs to control these services as well as other applications.

Product: 0596006403 I’d recommend this book to anyone looking to learn the basics of Linux. Carla Schroder writes clearly and succinctly. While some of the information given is out of date, I was able to get an updated version from O’Reilly. Rating: 5 0596006403 Count: 16

Product: 1593271441 When I mentioned aloud that I was exciting to try hacking with the help of this book, another visitor to this ALA booth glanced up at me with suspicion and then looked down as if she was either sharing a joke that I did not look like somebody that would succeed at hacking even if I tried, or as if she was looking away to not seem to be investigating my motivations.

Product: 0131101633 If you’ve worked with C, you know it is terse, compact, and sometimes unforgiving. This book was the de facto standard for C prior to ANSI, and after that remained pretty definitive. This book is small, so one might mistakenly assume it is less thorough, but C is not a big language, and it doesn’t need a big book. The important thing is to understand the features that it DOES offer, because failure to get the nuances of those can be catastrophic.
