Product: 0470888458 I strongly suggest you don’t buy this book if you’re studying for the Linux+ exam powered by LPI. Buy one that is geared towards LPI since thats what the test is now. Although it does have alot of information. It does not prepare you for the COMPTIA Linux+ powered by LPI test. Look for a more recent book, and i should have read the reviews before I purchased this book.

Product: How Linux Works As of 07/29/2916, this book is very much well up to date and relevant to Ubuntu 16.04 from what I have read so far. The examples have all worked. It’s done a good job describing the boot process, kernel space and user space. It’s not too wordy so you can read it quickly and get what you need out of it. Because of this book I feel much more comfortable with Linux.

Product: 059600222X This book is not for novices. You will need to be familiar with embedded systems and Linux previous to reading it, but once the prerequisites are met, this book serves as a great resource. Rating: 4 059600222X Count: 6

Product: Running Linux Amazon - How can I give a book six stars? An exception should be made here. This book is truly excellent. If you are just starting out, you’ll learn enough here to be WELL on your way to being a Linux pro. Matt Welsh et al write wonderfully. Everything is explained in the clearest manner imaginable. No, the book doesn’t cover everything, and I don’t believe that is the intention of this book.

Product: 0470343435 I wanted to buy the book a couple of years ago when it was paperback book. I bought the Kindle format ebook this time. I can read it on my Kindle and PCs. The contents of the book are very important and need-to-know when you are seriously considering Linux application development, even on Android, etc. I use the book as primary reference for the applications on Linux. Product: How Linux Works I am dinosaur with close to 40 yrs IT experience, working on mainframe, midrange and Wintel. I bought my first PC in 1986 because I saw it was the future. I have been toying with Linux for a number of years and managed to work my way past a couple of issues on my own, especially nVidia graphics cards. Now that I am retired, decided to get serious with Linux rather than go forward with yet another Windows version than won’t run my older applications and peripherals.
