Product: Ubuntu Made Easy I’m 64 years old, a non-geek, and non-techie. This book is giving me a clear and understandable waltz through a truly fun OS. I haven’t enjoyed my computer this much in years. The index isn’t all that comprehensive and I still have more questions than answers, but this tome has kicked me off in the right direction. The only weak point I’ve found in the book is how to go back and make changes after I’ve thought things over for a while.

Product: 0470404833 Even if you’re not studying for the LPIC this book is an excellent basic reference. It walks a perfect line between too much detail and not enough. If you sit down at your terminal and play with all of the ideas mentioned, you will not only learn a lot of really cool and useful things, but you will learn a lot about your Linux distribution versus others. I used Slackware and OpenSUSE, which really allowed me to compare and contrast things in the book.

Product: 0672336243 There’s a lot of good information about Ubuntu/Linux on the Internet, but I find that having a well-organized (and indexed) comprehensive 3-D book next to my computer is still a very valuable resource. There are, of course, many different flavors of Ubuntu and many different desktops (I’m using xfce), and this book doesn’t address all the variations in any detail. Nevertheless, there’s much to be learned from a more or less generic discussion of Ubuntu, and for the idiosyncrasies of each desktop variation, Google is still your friend.

Product: 1507836996 This Ebook has given me a great introduction to LINUX and has helped me understand how it differs from windows. I was intimidated in trying to learn a new operating system but after reading this book I started to understand how it worked and how I would be able to do new and different things. Everything is laid out in a easy to follow format and I really enjoy how everything is explained.

Product: 0789735318 If you are a beginning System or Network administrator, this is a great introductory security book to start with. The book covers a wide range of security topics with most being based on the Windows OS. It also has a chapter on Linux, and covers networking, web sites, buffer overflows and physical security. Included with each chapter are exercises to reinforce the material, and questions with answers. Before reading this book, you should have general background knowledge in operating systems and networking.

Product: 0596006403 It’s got by far so many Linux examples, you feeling there’s nothing not covered. It has a chapter on almost literally every command you can ever use. Unfortunately, I didn’t see anything pertaining to encryption, using GPG, but it has almost everything else under the sun. Rating: 5 0596006403 Count: 16

Product: 0137021208 This is a very good read. I have had this book for two days, and I have read halfway through it. IT are not typically very readable. I have not started to install Ubuntu at this time, but that will start in about a week. Rating: 4 0137021208 Count: 7

Product: 111846446X Even if I were not especially inerested in the Pi, I would recommend this book for its logical & straightforward discussion of Linux system administration. It answered many Linux questions that have long perplexed me. High praise is also warranted for the simple, jargon free prose style employed. Rating: 5 111846446X Count: 17
