Product: The Linux Command Line: A Complete Introduction It’s good … I keep struggling with the the whole concept of Linux - spent way way way too much time in the Win/Mac world - thus - it’s been slow learning the Linux world from a CMD perspective - but - as far as this particular book goes - it’s very well written & works well with most releases of Linux … Rating: 4 1593273894 Count: 86

Product: 0071545883 I have always been a Windows guy, more by force than choice, but this book opened the light in a way. It was easy to read and prompted me to actually try out the things suggested. I liked the tutorials and have to admit that Steve Shah also knows Windows like the back of his hand. He compared both Linux and NT on how to do most everything imaginable.

Product: 0071767584 I was an MCSE back in the NT 4.0 days. That was before Al Gore invented the internet. I’ve been using computers since the TRS 80s, owned a 8088 that came with MS DOS 3.3, and have basically stayed in that track till now. Never got serious about Linux, sure, I’d take an old workstation and load Linux, play around with it for a couple days, then get bored or lost, and give up.

Product: 0071767584 While most of the information found in this guide can be found online, this book makes comparisons to Windows methods and software and the information is set in a comprehensive form (which the online info isn’t). I am always surprised about how much I learn about Windows ways and means when I read a Linux book, and this one is no exception. Rating: 4 0071767584 Count: 6

Product: 1540461351 Probably one of the most useful Linux books out there. It covers a huge range of topics using a tutorial style of teaching, which makes it very easy to follow along and adapt the book’s examples to your own needs. This book is great and complete introduction to the Linux CLI, and an ideal starting point for every new Linux user. No prior knowledge required; recommended to anyone interested in Linux.

Product: 0072129409 As a newbie, I needed a little supplement to the various (excelent) HOWTO’s for Linux, just so I had one central place to look up and find descriptions and gain an overview. For this purpose, the book is wonderful. There might be a little bit too many screendumps and the command line argument tables take up a fair ammount of pages too, but it IS a reference book and that still leaves about 600-700 pages or so, to pure text documentation.

Product: 0072253657 This isn’t a book for Linux beginners for sure but for those who have a bit of experience with Linux you’ll hit the ground running. Some areas such as NIS server set up I wish it would go into and the first couple chapters seem like a waste of space since there is no depth, but the later content is A+. I give it a good recommendation to jump start your RHCE studies.

Product: 1517392772 An impressive source of knowledge on Linux. I am not much of a techie and some information just do not make sense to some extent but I did understand the basic. I weighed down on the pros and cons and they don’t seem that bad. And its free! Well, I am actually using a Windows OS and learning about alternative OS is not bad. But since its my hubby who is in charge of maintaining our computers, I don’t have much say in these things.

Product: 0131478230 I’ve purchased many Linux books on Amazon and this one is, for the most part, the best yet! It’s VERY well organized. Topics and material are thoroughly covered, with summaries and exercises at the end of each chapter. Book includes many examples, four appendixes, three indexes, and a thorough glossary. The only negative so far is that, unless you are an instructor, only the answers to the even numbered exercises–and advanced exercises–are available (on line at the author’s website).
