Product: 0672336936 I highly recommend this book because it covers steps that are not covered by online web pages or man pages. I’m not new to being a Linux user, but I’m new to being a Linux admin. I found all online sources to be woefully lacking in completeness, and users unwilling to give me complete steps. This book covers those gaps by explaining things simply, in easy steps, and a clear layout.

Product: 0672327201 It’s a good introduction to Linux kernel programming, yet not so great. It covers the kernel basic, kernel objects, algorithms (such as linked list, queue, rb-tree), memory pages, interrupt handlers, file structure, synchronize, process and so on. But it doesn’t describe the each one in detailed, a little bit shallow .. Codes listed in this book are simple introduction for the each part of the set of the kernel functions.

Product: Linux All-in-One For Dummies I was looking for an easy intro to Linux to see if I wanted to get deeper into the OS and this fit the bill. The included DVD was very helpful for getting a hands-on feel for the different distributions. Worth the price. Rating: 5 0470770198 Count: 13

Product: 0596004613 … linux books I’ve read in a long time. The more time I spend with Linux (6 years now) the less I find useful in book offerings. Too many books are written with the new user only in mind, no thought given to the intermediate to advanced user. While many of the things in the book appear elsewhere on the web and print, this is the first volume I’ve seen that brings it all together in a cogent and succinct package.

Product: Linux for Beginners: An Introduction to the Linux Operating System and Command Line I have read another book by this Author on the complicated computer program, Python. I was seriously impressed with that as he made it less complicated. Although, I have found Linux much easier to master, I wanted to try reading this and as I expected it was quite helpful I particularly liked what he wrote at the beginning about the hurdle of trying to grasp new commands and concepts, which seemingly leave you with more questions than answers.
