Product: 0672336936 I’m fairly experienced with Linux but I am still learning a lot from this book. It is very thorough and detailed and particularly helpful if you use the Unity interface. Rating: 5 0672336936 Count: 7

Product: 0132757273 This is a good book for getting up to speed on Fedora 19 however even on this, there are some gaps. As far as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), it is not a good resource. One glaring example of this the focus on Sendmail when with both Fedora and RHEL, the mail server of choice is Postfix; Red Hat doesn’t even teach Sendmail in its training programs where Postfix is taught.

Product: 1517392772 This was a great book! I’ve had some experience with Linux before in the past, mostly for my job at a tech startup. I learned a lot, though I would consider myself intermediate already. I still had some useful tidbits, and I think this is an awesome Linux book for beginners especially! Highly recommended if you want to get your feet wet with Linux. I like how it goes into the actual OS and architecture, rather than just straight commands.

Product: 0596003307 This is my all time favorite Unix book. If my house burnt down, this book would be high on the list for replacement. It’s an older book, but then it’s a true sign of quality when a computer book is still in frequent use, 8 years after it was first bought. I used to own the previous edition, and quickly bought this edition when it was published. There is so much extremely useful information packed into this book, you simply cannot go wrong buying it.

Product: 0321832043 If you have anything to do with Linux then you’d likely get value from having this practical hands-on book. I found that it gave great coverage and clear explanations without any fluff. Its probably not for newbies as there is very little in terms of explanation of general topics. It dives directly into problems/solutions which is perfect for what I was looking for - a reference guide to keep on the shelf that is not boring to read through either.

Product: 0672336243 This book kept me employed, I was asked to make and ftp on Ubuntu Linux with authorization policies. The reason was we did not want mainstream ftp servers is because hacking them was well known. We mixed layers of different software languages with encryption. This book was a great help to me. Product: 0071545883 I’d like to give this book more stars than just five. I’m an experienced Windows Systems Administrator, and I was advised it would be in my best interest to gain familiarity and experience with Linux. This book explains everything from the viewpoint of a Windows admin. It has plenty of screen shots and explanations for everything. I can not recommend this book too much. Product: 0130084662 You can’t go wrong having this book. It has already helped me solve a couple of problems I was having with Ubuntu Linux. I am not an administrator but a home user and this book has already come in handy. It’s not a bad addition to any Linux library. Rating: 5 0130084662 Count: 19
