Product: 0764205579 The Hidden Flame, the second book in the Acts of Faith series, gives the reader an insight into the trials of the earliest Christians and how they were distrusted, persecuted and ridiculed at times. The story revolves around the beautiful Abigail, who works hard within her community of Christians, distributing food to the needy. She, at first, lives with her younger brother, Jacob, a boy conflicted between his belief in the Messiah and his desire to become a Roman legionnaire.

Product: Linux for Beginners: An Introduction to the Linux Operating System and Command Line I recently got another book by this author and loved the style. He’s really good at getting the basics of programming down for beginners and I encourage you to check out his other books too. I think there is some great information in here and it’s well laid out, I feel that as a beginner shorter books work best and this was quite succinct.

Product: How Linux Works I have been Windows user for years but due to new invasive policies of MS, I have decided to switch to Linux. The book is a great introduction but it is packed and requires time to go through. The book gives introduction to world of Linux including advanced options (GRUB, boot order, initialization, mounting etc). It is necessary to say that just an introduction and more advanced reading is required in order to use Linux in full.

Product: Ubuntu Made Easy I’m so very happy that this book became available for review for free through the Vine program. I doubt I’d have spotted it otherwise. I had no idea how much Linux has changed in the last few years. The book is really excellent. The format is presented as a project based approach to introducing the reader to Ubuntu’s flavor of Linux. Ubuntu’s goal is to be a work right out of the box distribution that is close enough to the ubiquitous Windows platform in form and function to allow an easy crossover user experience.

Product: The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook This book is amazing! It is so much more thorough and comprehensive than any other Linux book that I have read through in the past. I have to be honest to say that I have never considered myself to be an expert in Linux programming, but I have dabbled in it in the past. This book however has set the bar so high because it truly walks you through pretty much any issue that I can think of in regards to programming in Linux.

Product: SELinux: NSA’s Open Source Security Enhanced Linux Really only skimming over the problem, could be more in depth, since most online documentation about SELinux is really skimming over the subject too, or just overly dated. Rating: 3 0596007167 Count: 6

Product: 0975913506 This is one of the few Linux books I’ve actually made it the whole way through. Usually, Linux books are HUGE, and while very informative, drown you in details. This book is pretty short, and introduces all the commands you will need fora basic understanding of the terminal. It won’t make you an admin, but is great for home users. My only beef is that there is an index of commands which is placed towards the middle of the book, instead of as an appendix, so I had to dog-ear the book to find it.
