Product: 0321832043 This is a handy book full of practical advice for troubleshooting any problem with your Linux machines. You will always want to keep this book nearby if you run Linux. Linux is pretty stable (especially compared to certain other operating systems), but every now and then, something can happen, or someone will tax it too heavily, and this book will tell you how to figure out what is wrong and get it fixed.

Product: 0470411546 Need a book to supplement the pamphlet I got with my 1005HA. This book has a great deal of information but is dated.(2005) With the exceptions of two chapters it completely ignores Windows XP OS ASUS. The hardware uses and descriptions are still current but trivial. The models covered only goes to the 1000 series and not the more recent 1005 and 1008 series. Really wanted this book to come through.

Product: 0596003439 Seeing as I’ve recommended this book several times on Reddit, I figured I would do a brief review of this book. Realistically this will be more of a summation of what to expect/why you should pick this book up. In short: are you administering a flavor of UNIX or Linux? Do you need to brush up on commands or need to learn the system quickly in a short order of time?

Product: 0619130040 I bought this book to study for the certification exam and now have to get rid of it after one chapter and find another. This is not my first certification exam and not my first experience with a certification book. I was shocked when I saw that the book had no answers to any of the questions in it, not one! The answers are only available to instructors. What?

Product: 059610104X While the book was helpful in understanding the difference between some Linux distros it wasn’t all that helpful since it is a bit dated compared to the latest versions of the distros it covers. Rating: 2 059610104X Count: 6

Product: 0471752827 This book is terrible and makes no sense. Yes it is written in plain english and is easy to understand, but it tells you very little actually about linux. It spends time evangelizing about open systems, it spends time telling you about how to install linux from 7 different distributions. Ok the discussions of the 7 distributions were valuable for 1 chapter, maybe 2, but that was enough. It doesn’t help you learn linux to have the instructions with 7 different nuances.

Product: Linux Bible Comprehensive introduction to Linux with uses latest versions of Red Hat Enterprise and Fedora to demonstrate examples with mentions of Ubuntu here and there. Understandable since the author works at Red Hat so probably a slight bias because of it. Covers just about everything you’d ever want to know about Linux and more so you’ll most likely end up using this as a reference book than something you read from start to finish.

Product: 0071807837 This is another very successful book written by Simon Monk. The Raspberry Pi is a very inexpensive stripped-down Linux-based computer. You have to supply your own enclosure, power supply, keyboard, mouse, etc. It is sort of like buying a house with the roof not included. Still, it is a tremendous buy at under $25. This book explains how to attach and configure everything. Beyond that, there is lots of information on programming and using the Raspberry Pi, much of it new to me, but explained quite clearly.
