Product: 1118531744 CompTIA books have a requirement to meet. Unlike the mass-production of Linux books all copying one another. I will keep this one. Rating: 5 1118531744 Count: 10

Product: 0596002726 I was in a urgent need of some fairly serious Linux bootcamp. This book worked, and this is how: I hadn’t had any significant Linux experience prior to buying this book. Sure, I knew a few basic UNIX commands, who doesn’t? After installing Ubuntu it became clear that I simply will have to spend too much time googling solutions for every problem. I went ahead and bought this book, read it cover to cover in about two days, and my fluentness in Linux administration/programming has increased dramatically.

Product: 159327257X I got an urge to check out Linux Ubuntu around the holidays and after reading the reviews on this book decided to give it a try. It was very easy to load the disc on my computer and complete the practice exercises in each chapter. A really solid overview of Ubuntu’s Hardy Heron version. I really want to get more into Ubuntu, but just haven’t had the time to really play with it.

Product: 1590596749 As I am going through the book there are a bunch of errors and typos. There are some erratas on the Apress Site but not all. I have attempted to contact apress customer service about the issues, but only have recieved and automated response. After the author finishes his diatribe about Microsoft and the empire of evil, I find it funny the excuses he tells for the problems within SUSE Linux, apparently a blind fanboy that cannot see the cracks present.

Product: 0131429019 This is an excellent explanation of how & why Unix and the ideas behind it have endured so well over 3 decades, while other systems have gone the way of the dinosaurs. I’ve been in the Unix field on and off for 20 years and was amazed at how much I learnt from this book. It makNot only that, butes so many things clear that were unconscious to me and probably many others.

Product: 0738203335 I like the cover, but nothing could interest me less than Linux or any software that ends with ..ux, ok maybe an IBM anthology of punch-card machines would be less interesting. To me the best thing about Linux is that it comes as a free CD on the cover of magazines providing me with an endless supply of coffee casters. Rating: 2 0738203335 Count: 10

Product: 0131478230 This is a book that I have been looking for for a long time. I have been looking for a book that takes me into the command line world of Linux but in a methodical way describing all the little options, tips, tricks but also the principles that make Linux shell so powerful. Book begins with a brief history of Linux and very informative, relevant overview of the system architecture.

Product: 013236039X I recommend Practical guide to Ubuntu Linux, 2nd ed. to all interested in understanding and running the Ubuntu Linux on their home, school or work machines. It is written by Mark Sobell whose book on Linux Commands, Editors and Shell Programming is one of my favorite IT titles of all. Book covers all topics you can think of - from a novice tutorial on the guided installation of the system to intermediate/advanced tasks such as shell scripting and installation of the server components such as Apache, DNS or mail server.

Product: Linux for Beginners: An Introduction to the Linux Operating System and Command Line I’m using Windows on every desktops and laptops that I have. It’s the only operating systems that I have used and known so far. Linux system is brand new for me. I want to know more about this, not because I don’t like Windows, I’m just curious as this is new to me. My friends using this one and some of them said it’s easier than Windows, some also said it’s harder then Windows.
