Product: 1517392772 Linux is the perfect book fot you if you are into computers! Firstly there are described all the pieces by which Linux is made up. I din’t know it was dowloaded and distributed freely worldwide (differently from Windows). There are also useful advice for beginners on how to eventually install it on your computer and a series of essencial commands. Really useful. Rating: 5 1517392772 Count: 39

Product: 0130206016 I’m always hesitant to give overly positive reviews but not only is this book a great resource for me, a unix neophyte, I also hear from old unix gurus that this is a truely beneficial installment to anyone’s library. I believe the addition of Linux is a wise one and really appreciate the BSD and Solaris help. Rating: 5 0130206016 Count: 10

Product: 0596004613 This book shows its age (which is quite expected since GNU/Linux is such a fast moving target) but still includes some good tips and tricks for system administration and advanced level use of GNU/Linux systems. If you’re some who really need this book then you’ll also need ‘Linux Server Hacks, Volume Two: Tips & Tools for Connecting, Monitoring, and Troubleshooting’. Rating: 3 0596004613 Count: 8

Product: 0130083968 The beauty of this book is Prof. Molay’s excellent and methodical explanations that elucidate what would otherwise (in other books) seem exceedingly complex and full of arcane details. The pedagogical style of this book is simply quite extraordinary –something that is not found in most programming books. This book, along with Stevens, provide a much deeper understanding of Unix/Linux than what can be acquired by learning by trial and error.

Product: The Linux Command Line: A Complete Introduction I recently changed from a Window’s environment to a Linux deployment and SDE (secure development environment). Feeling like I needed a Linux Command line for dummies type book, I found this one, and it’s fit the bill perfectly. Very thorough and clear to understand. I highly recommend it. Product: 0672327201 This book will take you from being a ‘C’ application developer to being ready to modify your first Linux kernel code. It covers the major systems of the kernel and provides enough detail to point you in the right direction should you need to actually make changes. This is the book to start with in your journey to modifying the kernel. It’s important to realize what this book is NOT.

Product: 1592007287 Is a good book for someone who has never used Linux. Some of the theory for a beginner is over the top and boring, but still a good book to have. Rating: 3 1592007287 Count: 6

Product: Running Linux I found this book to be quite helpful in setting up my own Linux box at home. I had never used Linux (and had some minor skills as a Unix user at my university), and Running Linux smoothed over quite a few of the rough spots. I did have some problems with partitioning, which neither this book nor the Redhat documentation adequately addressed. Because of that, 4, instead of 5 stars.
