Product: 1537736892 I wanted to learn how to use different operating system so I installed Linux to one of our laptop and I find this beginners’ crash course by Tom Welling a good one. With this book I was able to deal with Linuxs complexities in a whim. I learned a lot from it and the information given are not too technical for someone like me, a beginner. Product: 1430218894 I’ve been a windows admin for many years and my Linux skills come and go (more go than come). I picked up this book in a brick & mortar store with a cup of joe and I was done the 1st 4 chapters in no time. What an easy read and I felt the cobwebs clear and new commands become part of my lexicon. I couldn’t WAIT to have the book in hand and I didn’t want it on my iPad (I love to write in the margins and dog ear pages on technical books), so I PAID for it.

Product: 0596002726 This is the type of book that bodes well for all users of the Linux operating system. As most people know the O’Reilly books are always easy reading books. This one is no exception. Being one that has not jumped into Linux with both feet this book was still easy to follow and includes some aspects of Linux administration that were not covered in the previous releases. Running Linux is a not only an excellent reference, but a guide upgrades that will aide in staying current.

Product: 151182607X If you are not a computer guru and suddenly need to learn some Linux basics, well, your life can become a hell. After bothering most of my friends, someone told me to read this book. Well, for dummies or beginners, this can really be the answer. At first, the Author describes in a really easy and clear way what to do and the first essential concepts to introduce you to Linux and I appreciated this thing very much.

Product: The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook Enough reviews have already shown how great this book is. I had it for a while including the other book by Stevens and Rago (Advanced Programming In the Unix Environments) – Both great books. However, I need to pick one of the books for a class that I’m teaching. This is a programming class that concentrates in C and Unix/Linux Operating System.

Product: 1119277655 At barely over one hundred twenty pages Linux Server Security should easily clear the first bar with its intended audience of admins and IT staff its compact enough to work through in a week or two of dedicated effort without feeling overwhelmed. The breakdown into ten tutorial-style chapters of 5-10 pages independent of sequence and content makes the book even more effective the author encourages readers to pick and choose what most interests them and not worry about skipping what doesnt.
