Product: 159327257X The author attempts to explain the install, setup and usage of Ubuntu Linux. However there are no real solutions or answers given, there a lot of try this, or maybe, or something else, and go look at some website for the information. This is confusing and definitely not informative. If you have versions more recent that the 10.whatever he explains this book is of no use. Rating: 2 159327257X Count: 28

Product: 0131478230 Being somewhat new to Linux (Ubuntu) I found this book extremely helpful. Discussions of Ubuntu specifics was very helpful. Excellent book even if you are new to Linux. Rating: 5 0131478230 Count: 46

Product: Embedded Linux Primer Wow! So far the book proves that embedding Linux while not easy can be fun and interesting. You never know what Tux will do during his startup sequences, even if you did indeed write the stuff the kernel is using for that series of startup steps. Rating: 5 0131679848 Count: 13

Product: 1593271441 Although this text is aimed at more experienced programmers, it definitely provides insight that you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere. More or less, many programming books in general are either interesting and for beginners or advanced and very dull. This book is pretty advanced but written in manner that keeps the reader interested. Highly recommended for anyone who would like some hacking background as well as some Linux/Unix systems background.

Product: 0596000715 With so many books about Linux on the market, it is really a difficult to know which books are good and which are not. Learning Red Hat Linux, published by O’Reilly at their famous book series, shows the basic steps at the Linux world, based on the Red Hat distribution. This book doesn’t show Linux’s advanced configurations, but this is the greatest point of this work: it is a very easy, quick and pratical guide for all those who need to quickly learn this new operating system and doesn’t want to spend time reading complicated and hard to understand books.

Product: 1491939982 As many know, the Mac OS has been built on top of the Linux OS for the last decade or so. For basic use, it’s kind of irrelevant, since there is a very substantial OS on top of the Linux core, but it is actually sometimes really useful to access some of the Unix OS functionality directly. This book teaches you how to get at some of that Linux functionality directly, through the Mac Terminal.

Product: 0201187604 This book, is so outdated it’s not even funny. Android OS information is built on Android 4.1, Google is removing all apps on 4.1 by this August, that is how outdated it is. This book contains a large amount of information on TAPE drives, name a single corporation that still exists right now that handles TAPE drives…… I’ll dust off my VCR while waiting…. Linux Kernel information is based on Kernel 2.

Product: 0619130040 My book cover is orange so this must be the next edition. Anyway, when I got this book all I could do was navigate through the directories with the cd command so I think my review can and should be taken as beginners words. This book was really good and I highly recommended it to anyone interested in learning Linux. Haven’t tried to get a cert yet so I can’t vouch for that, I think it would be hard to learn all those commands and directories with any book.

Product: 1494295504 This is not a manual for hackers; ordering the book should not put you on some big brother black list. It is instead, a very useful collection of Terse reminders of which commands and options to use - good for both Linux and Windows - to fond and modify system information. I am sure other reviews also mention the Blue team companion, BTFM. That one, in the same format, covers system protection Rating: 5 1494295504 Count: 9
