Product: 1118531744 My husband says that this is an acceptable study guide to be used in conjunction with other materials. He got a certificate for an exam for Linux a few months back. Rating: 4 1118531744 Count: 10

Product: 0596002130 It’s not a reference book. Its a well written book about how the Linux kernel works. Doesn’t have example coding, it’s not a reference book for kernel hacking, but it’s a good starting point. Rating: 5 0596002130 Count: 17

Product: 1430219998 I read the reviews before ordering this book, and was glad to see that it did meet my needs as a Ubuntu Linux beginner looking for answers. I am glad that it focuses on Ubuntu Linux and deals with Windows as needed, versus ignoring it. There are so many versions of Linux, that I am glad to have chosen Ubuntu soon after some false starts with other obsolete versions.

Product: 0071771573 Using pretty much this book alone (and what I knew about Unix already), I passed this exam on the first try. If you’re comfortable with Linux (you know if you are), in particular the command line, and you’re dedicated to reading this book (I still read it twice), you should do fine. Congratulations to you when you pass. Rating: 5 0071771573 Count: 6

Product: 151182607X A quick introduction on Linux major OS and distributions, which I failed to see on other Linux Books I read prior to this book. The file system may be tricky at first glance but I got used to it. The commands and parameters are one of the most important things to learn. I like the use of file commands too. Very useful. Good thing there is summary at the end of each chapter so I can bookmark them.

Product: LINUX: The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide! I have used Linux before but I was not a big fan of it so I wanted to find out more about this OP. so this book was a good read as I learned that Linux is being much more useful and cheaper than Windows. Rating: 4 1519453477 Count: 34

Product: 0470534052 If you want Windows networking info, then this book is probably fine. But if you’re wanting to learn Unix, Linux, etc., then not so much. The book sort of pretends to cover all flavors, but in actuality, very little info is here for anything other than Windows. Although there are chapters and specific cases citing Windows, nearly all the generic information is also about Windows ONLY. Rating: 2 0470534052 Count: 5
