Product: Linux for Beginners: An Introduction to the Linux Operating System and Command Line I read a beginners guide in the past about Linux. The book totally confused me. I went in search for another book for beginners that would be straightforward and easy to learn from since the Linux OS can be a little difficult to understand like many other operating systems. This book has done what I wanted. Linux for Beginners taught me in terms that I could understand and slowly grew into more technical terms the further in the book I got.

Product: 1784392537 This is a must read in my opinion if you are beginning on Embedded Linux Systems, it’s truly a good work to give strong basis and see the most related Linux topics to carry on Embedded Linux. I liked the book structure, from the system basis, managing memory, debugging, real time programming and other areas. If you don’t know anything about the topic this book is for you, but this will be best to know what you need to read and read again before you are more familiar, basic Linux usage and structure and C programming language will help you, if you know a little about the topic this book will give you a much more complete project needs and management view, but if you are an experienced developer this book will be like a tool, some parts like profile and trace are very useful to have recommendations about, some tasks like that can make your project not that secure and stable as you want.

Product: 1593276036 I teach computer programming at the university level and I think this is one of the best introductory books (for people who are not computer science majors) that I have read. The writing is clear. The organization is well thought through. The coverage is complete enough to get the absolute novice up and running (on Mac or Windows or Linux). If you are an upperclassman in high school or an undergrad who wants to use python to learn to program this is the book to get.

Product: The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook At over 1,500 pages, this work can appear to be intimidating for some readers. However, Kerrisk does a great job of being thorough. I could see this work used as both a reference and as one that one could read an entire chapter at a time. As the title should hint at, this is for those who have a serious interest in LInux programming; it is not a light read for beginners in my opinion.

Product: 0596526784 As with most Cookbook format books, I am not sure that users will want to read straight through the entire book-I know that I would use it as a reference primarily. The entries usually have a Problem/Solution/Discussion section. I appreciate how the discussion sections generally do a good job of trying to explain various aspects of the solution. Even with what I would call an immediate level of Unix knowledge, I was able to learn some new commands.

Product: 0672327201 Linux is one of these moving targets. Books keep getting out dated.. every day. They have tried to include all the changes in page cache, elevator upto date. It is a very good read for any one who is interested in the linux kernel. If you don’t have enough time to read all the release notes and follow mailing lists, this is one concise book to read and understand the 2.

Product: 0672327201 Linux is a amazing operating system. It has grown leaps and bounds. As the OS has matured so much it is impossible for one person to be skim the entire code and understand. The book does a wonderful job. Every thing from bottom half handlers, IO schedulers, process contexts all are explained in full detail. I wish they will come up one more edition to explain rest of the stuff like SCSI subsystem etc.

Product: LINUX Beginner’s Crash Cours I own a number of websites and they are all based on the Linux Operating System. It is an easy to use and understand system and it is more flexible, in mu opinion, that the Windows Operating System. The book does a good job of laying out the various commands used in the OS along with describing how Linux functions. It is a wonderfully compiled book that is easy to read and very comprehensible.
