Product: 1849694605 Nothing to do with the movie. It is more of a matrix of the ways the Raspy can be used for various networking solutions. All of it is described in the well-known and useful form of recipes in the Rick Golden’s book Raspberry Pi Networking Cookbook. Very background-enriching, because it gives advises to people who just bought their first Pis and wonder where to start from. It really is very suitable as the first book to read on the matter.

Product: 0131429019 This book is less about writing programs on UNIX as it is about the positive aspects of the (occasionally chaotic) philosophy that surrounds UNIX (and unices such as Linux and BSD) in general. Anyone who needs to develop a deep relationship with the world of unix should read this through at least once, in my opinion. It is one of the foundational texts of an entire era of hacker history.

Product: 0385503865 James Surowiecki, financial columnist for The New Yorker, has an insight. He has concluded after much research that contrary to common belief a large group of ordinary people can make better decisions than small groups of experts. His book is rich with anecdotes supporting his thesis. For example, a large group of people trying to guess the number of jellybeans in a jar or the weight of a cow will come very close to the right answer.

Product: 1590596277 I had installed Slackware Linux 12 years ago. Wow Linux has come a long way. Back then I had to initiallize nearly every component in my computer individually and manually. With today’s Ubuntu, it was all automatic. I recommend this book to any first timer looking to run Linux. I haven’t used any unix commands since college mainframe days (10 years). This book and this distribution of Linux require no previous unix command line knowledge.

Product: 059610104X This book is easy to read but is also very basic concerning its information. If one is interested in technical assistance in order to solve problems with Linux, it probably isn’t much help. It is more oriented towards an understanding of how the OS works. Rating: 2 059610104X Count: 6

Product: Linux Device Drivers Maybe I’m just a dummy, but I found this book pretty hard going. I needed to modify a Linux USB device driver and honestly found the material on-line (including Greg’s videos) more helpful. If you are prepared to read thru and need to become a Linux device driver expert, this is probably the book for you. I did not find it to be all that helpful as a quick reference.

Product: 1593271441 This book does an excellent job of explain various techniques that hackers employ. The explainations include examples, source code, breakouts, and descriptions. The book progresses from basic examples to more complex by building upon a project a little at a time. The book bascially covers 3 broad areas: programming, networking, and cryptogrophy. Programming covers buffer overflows, stack exploits, heap overflows, polymorphic code, inline loaders and other information. Examples are presented in C and assembly.

Product: 0596100825 This is a very good book. These remarks are for Linux users on the way up. If you are already an ber-ser, well, you will probably like this book anyway. If you don’t have the first volume, you might want to start with it. It has some simple but very useful things that apply to just about anyone with their own Linux box and a command line. This volume is much more advanced, and most of the tricks and techniques deal with much more specialized problem domains, ie.
