Product: 1517392772 Even though I am an avid mac user, I have always thought about taking up linux. The old saying that you never know if you like it until you try it is true, because now I wish I had learned linux sooner! Great instructions on a great OS here. Definitely handy if you are planning to take up Linux as I did! Rating: 4 1517392772 Count: 39

Product: 0131367366 This is an excellent material for those who are already somewhat familiar with Linux/Unix and want to take their knowledge to the next level. This is especially wonderful book for programmers (C and Java for Linux), perl, and shell script writers. If you want a detailed understanding of how Linux operates, however, this book falls short. For example, the book hardly covers Linux networking and security (linux groups in particular).

Product: 151182607X This book has helped me a lot since I started learning, and I will continue to use this book in the future. This book gives definitions of the basic commands you will use In Linux to give you an idea of how and why its used. It does a good job of being straightforward with instructing you from the examples given to help you learn it naturally compared to a regular textbook.

Product: 0470534052 I’d like to recommend this product to people who know nothing about Networks and are looking to familiarize themselves with the Windows side of things. However for me that was not a plus as I work with Linux, all in all the book is pretty poorly executed, I feel like the author talks like a child and has a hard time getting to the point, I’ll probably end up selling my copy and getting a NET + book.

Product: 1449339530 this book covers a lot of ground with an approachable narrative style. As a casual programmer and Linux user I was surprised by how enlightening the information was just to understand how Linux works. Covers io, process and memory management, and some other details. Probably not ideal for novices. Some knowledge of c and processor concepts is required to get the most from the text. Overall very good read I’d recommend to any links user or software developer.

Product: 151182607X Very good intro into the world of the command line. This is not a guide to get Linux up and running, there are plenty of free tutorials online, it is truly an intro to the command line. This book goes far to help you to understand the commands for the terminal. Rating: 4 151182607X Count: 33
