Product: How Linux Works Another great title published by No Starch Press. If you are a Linux power user, Brian definitely knows how to properly feed your desire to know more about whats happening under the hood, without getting into the details of titles such as The Linux Programming Interface or Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment. Easy to read and follow, its a long long talk about many of the topics that make Linux what it is today.

Product: 0470082933 At some point, any Debian user will either give up Linux, getting back to the cave and Windows or end up googling to find a faster, better way to accomplish all those tedious, time consuming and error prone tasks that he manually does, over and over, through the graphical interface. This book, with its learn by doing approach, is a great companion to anyone wiling to get the most out of the penguin, unleashing the true power of Linux and taking control of his machine and its services through the command line.

Product: 0596005695 I have been reading this book for the first time back in 2013 but a couple of months ago I planned to give it a second try, not sure what I was expecting to magically find there. So despite postdating it some four to five times, I have finally dedicated a couple of days’ commute time to this title, a quite outdated and thin book about iptables. A must know for any System Administrator, iptables is a technology tbat has been there since forever and that hasn’t experienced any real revolution lately, which makes this book still valid despite being more than 10 years old.

Product: LINUX: Easy Linux For Beginners, Your Step-By-Step Guide To Learning The Linux Operating System And Command Line This book doesn’t even start to scratch the surface of Linux. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s just a hodge-podge of Linux information. It doesn’t flow, it’s not logical, it doesn’t get the reader to anywhere of value. If you really want to learn about Linux, look elsewhere. Rating: 1 1533683735 Count: 23

Product: 1494295504 First, I would like to say what a great idea the author had to put together a listing of useful Windows and Linux commands. Dont be thrown off by the title, this isn’t simply a book of hacking style commands. The majority of the commands, tips and tricks are generally useful to any computer professional. If the font were any smaller the book would need to ship with a magnifying glass.

Product: 111846446X The book is pretty short but it has a nice preface from the author about how he came up with the Raspberry Pi and brought it to reality. The Pi runs Linux, so if you’re not familiar with the OS, this book will not make you proficient. However, since all Pi are the same hardware, the preconfigured images work and the book will show you how to set that up along with a little introduction to Linux.

Product: 0764547976 After reading Running Linux, I was looking for the next book to further my studies of linux and this book is a good fit. It does not cover everything, but what linux book does in a readable format. Between Running Linux, Maximum Linux Security and this book I feel the next step is to buy a book on a specific subject (i.e. sendmail, apache, etc.). Definitely a worthy foundation book for aspiring linux geeks (such as myself).

Product: 1849694605 Concise but very well structured and written book on the networking part of the RasPi. Some Linux operating system knowledge on the topic very recommended as the book is centered on using the RasPi as a server in a network. Topics covered: - How to connect to the RasPi using SSH. - Tips to maintain and update the system using packages. - Storage including adding USB or network storage to network sharing and file server.

Product: The Linux Command Line: A Complete Introduction A must have in your collection. The single most clear, concise, complete reference on Linux I have ever seen. Of course to truly master Unix/Linux you must own several references. Different materials cover different tasks: Shell scripting, network administration, etc. But as far as the one reference you will want sitting next to you day to day, this is it.
