Product: 1517392772 I am very versed in using Windows OS, but over the past 10 years I have become somewhat of an advanced basic user of Linux. This book has shed further light on the Linux OS as it refers to various commands used and how to even set it up. The book talks about the different flavors/versions of Linux, like Ubuntu and Red Hat, that are super easy to install and use.

Product: LINUX Beginner’s Crash Cours I love the this book. This book tackles the topics like the Linux kernel and shell scripting along with topics like Inter-process Communication and a lot of commands with which you can easily perform most of the simple tasks in Linux. And lastly, it will give you a basic overview of using Linux, with plenty of examples to try out for yourselves. Thank you for sharing this book.

Product: 1532811292 From the background and basics of Linux programming, the author explained it in a simplified way that beginners can understand. The screenshot images provide excellent samples to help the learner double check on the steps that are being done. It does not promise instant mastery but it gave me something to start with. It is also a great book to read before enrolling in a formal programming class to give you a headstart in Linux.

Product: Linux Essentials I’m an Oracle DBA. I read this book because I’m considering picking up a few Linux certifications in between my Oracle studies (I need to switch it up from time to time), and I figured I’d might as well start with the basics. I’ve been using Linux on and off since I started in IT about 10 years ago, so the vast majority of the book was a review for me.

Product: SELinux: NSA’s Open Source Security Enhanced Linux This book is dated, so if you’re looking for details on 2.6 kernel implementations you’re going to be disappointed. Worse still, the book doesn’t cover distributions that don’t already have SELinux support. Overall I found the discussion of the theory of SELinux to be good, but implementation details were sorely lacking. Ultimately it didn’t answer the questions I had (how do I install SELinux on Mandriva and configure it) so wasn’t worth the price.

Product: The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook I have not read too much of this book but I have noticed the abundant amount of examples. Can’t ask for too much more with this type of literature. Rating: 5 1593272200 Count: 29
