Product: 0596527209 This book has been invaluable to me. I have attempted to use Linux several times. I’ve tried Mandrake, RedHat, and some other smaller incarnations. I finally tried Ubuntu with much success. I like the whole Ubuntu/Debian philosophy. Since Ubuntu only includes open source software there are things you will be missing after you install it. This book helps you fill in the missing pieces. It also tells you how to customize the OS to your liking.

Product: 0596001835 This is a great book to get started with 802.11 wireless networks. It gives a great overview and a decent amount of detail. For more detail I used open source available on the web, Linux drivers, and a book on 802.11i for more in depth knowledge on security. Rating: 4 0596001835 Count: 8

Product: 0975913506 I was very pleased with this book. It’s a quick intro to the Linux command line. It’s easy to follow and the examples are good. While this book won’t make you a Linux guru (as someone else already mentioned), it will help you develop the fundamentals of the command line and help make you more proficient. This is also a good reference for Linux certification exams, as many of them have several questions pertaining to the command line.

Product: 1517392772 Almost 2 weeks ago, I received a Linux installer. It’s free and was trying to familiarize myself with it. My brother-in-law suggested this crazy stuff I don’t know about. He was good enough to convince me it is worth trying. Up until now, I haven’t tried it. I actually don’t know much about linux. In this book I found many useful stuffs like reasons why should I use it.

Product: 1593271441 According to what he said, it’s a great book so far (he hasn’t finished reading it yet). But since he already knew how to program and uses Linux as his main operating system anyways, he said it was a bit tedious trying to figure out where to start since the book begins with basic programming in C (he has about 6 years of experience programming in C/C++). Product: Linux Device Drivers This is good text book for Linux. For developers for Linux, most difficult technical issues are driver codes. This book provides the most useful information for us. I used Japanese translation from 1st edition. Now 3rd edition, USB are good for me. Rating: 5 0596005903 Count: 15

Product: 0130206016 I bought this book for managing unix systems like, HP-UX, Sun and Toshiba(old fashion). HP and Sun are quite different. This handbook is a reference for the two system. Hal of the contents are useful on Linux. If you are Linux user, see 4th Edition. Rating: 5 0130206016 Count: 10
