Product: 0132354136 I just didn’t have luck using this book. Things it claimed worked didn’t. Maybe they need to write an updated version. It became annoying and made me give up on Linux all together. Rating: 1 0132354136 Count: 11

Product: Linux for Beginners: An Introduction to the Linux Operating System and Command Line Hard to get into it. Starts out assuming you’ll be having to access a remote instance of Linux and wastes mega-pages on this notion, while I have several PCs, right here on my desk, with multiple Distros already at my finger tips. Would probably make more sense to try a book on my specific Distros, rather than this vanilla Linux book that’s so generic as to be of little use.

Product: 1584503718 I’ve been programming for a good while but I am relatively new to Linux. Sure I’ve flirted with it a little in the past but I’ve mostly been down in the worlds of Nulceus, vxworks, and threadx. I found myself needing to come up to speed fast on a lot of little things - multi threading, communications, piping and build processes. This book covers it all in good enough detail to get you on your feet fast.

Product: 0672327716 I found the book to be written to a advanced beginner - intermediate level. It had a good discussion of the basics, and yet did not shy away from the complexities of the system. It has been a constant and rewarding companion as we make the switch it Linux in my lab. An Excellent book. Rating: 5 0672327716 Count: 7

Product: 0470497025 If you truly want to learn assembler you HAVE to learn memory addressing and this book will absolutely teach you that. After you have read, studied, experimented and understand the main concept of memory addressing (base + index), etc in assembler everything else becomes so much easier. THIS book will definitely get you well on your way. I think it should be a first book in anyone’s learning arsenal.
