Product: 0470082933 I already knew some Linux, so the material was easy to digest, but I feel a noob could find the book useful as well. I still use the book as a reference. Rating: 5 0470082933 Count: 18

Product: 1118935128 That book is a true master piece. It is concise yet detailed and precise while remaining reasonably accessible to beginners. The combination of materials and mediums used by the author to complement the content of the book are second to none, extremely useful and well done. If you are already familiar with designing basic electronic circuits and have a bit of experience working with common MCU peripherals (GPIO BANKS, ADC/DAC, I2C, SPI, Timer/Counters, UART) then you will find this book to be a perfect introduction to the world of Embedded Systems under Linux and a very complete and hands on tour of the BeagleBone Black which truly is a wonderful board/system.

Product: 1590594584 This book is a great way for any reasonably experienced PC user to break into the Linux world. The author is clearly prejudiced against Microsft but who can blame him? He can do almost anything with Suse that can be done with XP for free. I have used all versions of windows from 3.0 to XP and I found Linux a little bit intimidating initially. After reading this book and using the information provided I now dual boot my primary box, I have turned an old PC into a web server, revived an old Thinkpad long thought useless, and my kids have a box that is used for school work, web surfing and photo editing (but not gaming).

Product: 0470082933 This is one of the best books you can get for Debian Linux commands. I use it almost everyday. No it doesn’t have them all, but it has quite a few. There is no way I can remember all the commands. I have Linux on three different computers and and they are all Debian based distributions. I have other books, but this is probably my favourite. I stopped buying books for various distros after they started releasing new versions constantly.

Product: The Linux Command Line: A Complete Introduction Having a fairly decent command line knowledge, I didn’t expect to learn much from this book. I was definitely surprised by how well this book was written. It is laid out in a simple, straight forward, and easy to understand way. Many of the O’Reilly books I have, or have read, always make me feel like I don’t have enough initial knowledge to understand the basics.

Product: 0596002130 The Understanding the Linux Kernel (3rd edition) covers essentially all the kernel’s major systems and methodologies in depth. It also conveys a deep understanding in terms that an average computer programmer can grasp with effort. Those of you who have designed and built your own operating systems will also gain insight with this book into the reasoning used to do things like memory allocation, device I/O copy operations, and deep memory management techniques.
