After the death of Christ, followers of the Way were persecuted right and left for their beliefs. The community of believers was growing but many were still skeptical of the belief that Jesus was God’s Son. With the Jewish community jealous of the new conversions and the Roman rulers angry at the growing mobs of people gathering to hear people preach in the streets, the followers of the Way were under attack. Meetings were sometimes held in secrecy and believers had to be aware of their surroundings. Sometimes, believers had to flee, such was the case of Alban and Leah, which is the start of this story.

Alban and Leah, friends of Abigail, are warned to leave the city of Judea. After they left, Abigail is sad and left to wonder what has happened to her dear friends. Meanwhile, Alban’s friend and a fellow Roman soldier, Linux, goes to search for Alban. Along the way, he comes across Abigail who please his eye. Instantly, he falls in love with her.

Interestingly, a man named Ezra, who is a prominent Jewish leader and spy for an elder Pharisee, Gamaliel, is asked to go undercover to learn more about thr growing community of believers. One day, as he looks on to the crowd of followers, he discovers Abigail. He becomes interested in her and falls for her.

Now two men long to marry Abigail and she must make a choice. Who will it be? Or will she break both of their hearts? The rest is for you to find out.

However, this book is worth the read. It’s written similar to the Francine River’s trilogy, Mark of the Lion. It is well-written and worth your time.
