From the background and basics of Linux programming, the author explained it in a simplified way that beginners can understand. The screenshot images provide excellent samples to help the learner double check on the steps that are being done. It does not promise instant mastery but it gave me something to start with. It is also a great book to read before enrolling in a formal programming class to give you a headstart in Linux.
