I have always wanted to try Linux. I built three or four linux boxes over the years, I think the first was RedHat 5.2. I set them up, loaded Linux, not without some difficulty with the first distros, and looked at them. I played Solitare. I played some of the games, like Mah Jong. I looked at them. Then I formatted the drive and went back to Windows. I could not get far past the desktop, I could not get the next step: OPERATION. This book allows you to use that machine you loaded and are sitting there wondering what it is for. Like all O’Reilly books it is wonderfully complete and well researched.
