Product: RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Study Guide

The only thing I can really say about it is that if you’re a rookie to Unix/Linux plan on taking your time with this book. I have a little bit of experience with Unix and a little less with Linux and I find that I have to read through and then go back and make notes to myself.

The case for: It’s a two-fer, you get the study guide for the RHCSA and RHCE. It comes with a pdf of the book and better yet it’s split out into chapters, it has four practice exams (I haven’t tried them yet but will pretty soon). Also, Jang uses Scientific-Linux which is free rather than RHEL6 which is not.

The case against: Sometimes Jang’s explanations are vague or lack detail. (The sections on VMs was tough to follow, not because it’s overly complex but the material lacks a good description.)

Overall, I would recommend this book but then again it really depends on what you want and your level of experience.
