It doesn’t go into a lot of depth - not even a shadow of the O’Reilly book for the Arduino. But for getting started with a BeagleBone or BeagleBone black, it’s useful and covers a lot of ground. And the price is reasonable enough that it makes more sense to buy this book to figure out if a BBB will work for your application than buying the BBB (or, if you want to spend more and get less, an original BeagleBone). But for what it purports to be, it’s great.
Only quibble, it would be nice if it had more info on the other options besides Angstrom Linux, which appears to be dying a reasonably quick death despite being the standard OS that comes on the BBB. Be prepared to investigate other options if you want to use Linux at any more than a cursory level on the BBB (but that’s really more of a BBB/Angstrom gripe - not the fault of this work).
