Product: Linux Bible

Christopher Negus is an old hand at Linux and he definitely knows his stuff. His writing style is generally clear and not fatiguing to read.

Where one can quibble is his choice of points to emphasis. Linux is such a broad universe that there is always more than one way to accomplish something. I may think B is the best solution, you may think G is and Christopher Negus thinks N is. Negus is the author so we get N and those who favor another approach complain. As I said, its a quibble.

On the other hand, Negus does take the reader by the hand and, bit by bit, leads them to an understanding of and mastery of everyday, practical Linux. Will the reader learn everything there is to know about Linux? No. Im not sure that is even possible. But you will be ble to use Linux for yourself and set-up and administer a Linux server and network. That gives you a skill set 95% or so of the population doesnt possess.

This is not exciting reading. It takes dedication and determination to get through it. Not because of any fault of Negus, but because of the subject matter.

But the reader should be grateful to have someone like Negus as their teacher.
