Product: Linux for Beginner’s: Complete Guide for Linux Operating System and Command Line
I’m one of those people who thought Linux was this complicated thing only used by computer geeks, but I find from reading this book that this is not true, it is more user-friendly than Windows or Mac OS, which I have both. I had no idea there were so many versions of Linux either. One thing I did learn is that there is a version of Linux that you could use with an old computer that would make it run normally. We all have these computers (unless we’ve recycled them or tossed them) that are no longer supported. I have an old XP as well as an old Mac that if the author, Terence Lawfield, if on the level, I can load up with Linux and bring them both back to life. One of our problems with Windows and Mac OS is that they are continuing to be upgraded, so there is a big cost there and then it comes to a point with them that your version is no longer being upgraded as in the XP situation I have. This slows it down and and it doesn’t work with certain software. You have no choice but to go out and buy another computer. Except now you do have a choice, load up a version of Linux that works with old computers. Not sure if I’ll put Linux on my newest computers at this time, but if I can get the old ones working, who knows? This well written book is as the title states, for beginners, which I seem to always be as far as computers, and I for one am going to follow its directions.
