This short book is a sardonic and witty history of the software that drives personal computers, written by a guy who actually understands how these things work well enough to explain it with great metaphors. The passage where he compars MS-DOS, Apple, and Linux to three car dealerships on the same corner is worth the price of the book. If you like Neal Stephenson’s books you should like this, though it’s a touch drier than his novels.
Hey, the title is a good enough reason to buy it!
