Product: 1119188687 If you’re going to be stranded on a desert island with nothing but a Raspberry Pi, some interfacing projects and a single book of your choosing, this is the book to choose! Introductory/Getting Started material on Linux, Raspbian, basic electronics, Pi hardware, implementation languages and interfacing. The latter is particularly important given the rather delicate nature of the RPi GPIO. Includes a performance comparison of the various languages which, alone, would justify the purchase price.

Product: 111846446X I just finished reading this book; it is an excellent introduction to the Raspberry and to Python. The Hardware Hacking and Add-On Boards chapters provide everything you need to get started. If you are new to Linux, chapters 2 - 6 alone are worth the price of the book. The explanations are well written and presented in a manner that is easily digestible by a Linux novice. I particularly liked the chapter about the Scratch programming language.

Product: 1449362346 With my uber geek hubby loving Linux, it was only natural that he would order the first production of Raspberry Pi computers (remember when they had a long waiting list? He was on that for months!!) With several of these little computers in our home now, having this book of hacks has given him new ways to use the mini computers and try new things! Although I an not a techy person at all, I understood many of the things they were saying in this book, too.

Product: The Linux Command Line: A Complete Introduction Great introduction to the Linux o/s. Bought this to help me learn more about using the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. So far, I’ve learned a ton from this that was glossed over on online forums and tube searches. More useful than any college text I’ve ever had, and doesn’t double as a sleep aid. Product: 1118554213 I keep very few books at home. A few references for the most part. Did find this very helpful in learning about Raspberry Pi. Originally borrowed from public library and then bought one. Very good description of Linux commands and file structure. Rating: 5 1118554213 Count: 9

Product: 1680451839 Linux is off-putting to most of us who have grown up with a GUI like Windows and are comfortable with Windows. SO using LInux scares many of us off from using it for our projects, even maker projects. Linux is actually a good op sys for maker projects, but with so many of us not being familiar with LInux, we need an easy guide to get us started.

Product: 1449344216 I haven’t used Linux or a Raspberry Pi. I bought this book when I bought the Raspberry Pi. Sometimes I had to look carefully to find what I was looking for, but the book is loaded with information. This is not an in-depth guide, but an introduction to several topics. There is one major flaw; this book lacks an index. Rating: 4 1449344216 Count: 13

Product: 1119188687 if you only buy one book to learn about and use your Raspberry Pi - this is it! get this book there is a reason that Molloy’s books are so highly regarded: - breadth of coverage - plethora of examples - detailed descriptions - excellent diagrams and tables of information - and best of all: this book is written in plain English, not ‘engineer-speak,’ and not juvenile cheerleading. the tone is just right, and this book will help teach you about this family of small Linux computers and how to interface them with the real world

Product: 1680451839 The Linux OS is a free and easy to manipulate code system used on devices such as the Raspberry Pi (the computer, not the pastry), Arduinos, and more. One of the greatest benefits of Linux is that it can be customized very easily. However, this comes with the downside of leaving nearly all aspects of the code to the user, which can be very confusing. Make: Linux for Makers attempts to ease the confusion while showing the power of the Linux kernel.
